Alibaba Cloud (Aliyun) Official Launch

Alibaba Group officially launched its public cloud computing division, Aliyun, to commercialize the infrastructure it had built for its own e-commerce operations.

Significance

This event created the foundational platform upon which all subsequent Alibaba Cloud services, including RDS, would be built and offered to external customers.
