Alibaba Cloud (Aliyun) officially launched

Alibaba Group officially launched its cloud computing division, Aliyun (later Alibaba Cloud), with the explicit goal of building a robust, scalable cloud platform from the ground up to support Alibaba's ecosystem.

Significance

This marked the birth of the platform upon which Alibaba Cloud Security Group would eventually be built, with security implicitly integrated into its core architecture due to Alibaba's internal needs.
