Alibaba Cloud launches AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL

Alibaba Cloud introduced AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL, a massively parallel processing (MPP) data warehousing service compatible with the PostgreSQL protocol. It was built upon the open-source Greenplum Database, enhanced for cloud elasticity and managed service offerings.

Significance

This marked Alibaba Cloud's initial entry into providing a dedicated, scalable analytical database solution in the cloud, leveraging an established MPP architecture while offering familiar PostgreSQL compatibility to users.
