Amazon Aurora General Availability

AWS CEO Andy Jassy announced the general availability of Amazon Aurora, a MySQL-compatible relational database service designed for the cloud with superior performance and availability.

Significance

This laid the foundational, innovative log-based storage architecture upon which Aurora Global Database would later be built, demonstrating that AWS could fundamentally re-architect relational databases for the cloud.
