Avid Media Composer Release

Avid Technology launches Media Composer, the first commercially viable non-linear editing system based on desktop computing, fundamentally changing post-production.

Significance

While not MediaCentral directly, Media Composer established Avid as a dominant force in editing, creating the user base and industry need that MediaCentral would later serve by integrating comprehensive workflows around it.
