AWS CloudFormation Announcement

AWS announced CloudFormation in February 2011 with sample templates for apps like blogs and wikis, initially supporting 13 of 15 services and 48 resource types. It tightly coupled resources to the core engine, developed in-house.

Significance

Introduced declarative Infrastructure as Code to AWS, enabling repeatable stack deployments and accelerating cloud adoption.
