AWS CloudFormation Launch

AWS CloudFormation was launched, allowing developers to provision and manage AWS resources using declarative JSON/YAML templates. This laid the foundational IaC paradigm within AWS.

Significance

CloudFormation established the concept of Infrastructure as Code within AWS, but its limitations in expressiveness and reusability directly paved the way for the need for CDK.
