AWS EC2 Launch with Security Groups

Amazon Web Services launched its Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) with Security Groups as an integral feature, providing basic, instance-level network access control.

Significance

This marked the first widespread introduction of a cloud provider native firewall service, fundamentally changing how network security was managed in virtual environments and enabling multi-tenant cloud computing.
