Azure Data Lake Storage Gen1 General Availability

Microsoft announced the general availability of Azure Data Lake Store Gen1, a dedicated HDFS-compatible service for big data analytics.

Significance

While a step forward, Gen1 highlighted the need for HDFS compatibility but also showed the limitations of a standalone service, paving the way for the integrated approach of Gen2.
