Birth of Extreme Programming (XP)

Kent Beck began to formalize Extreme Programming (XP) while working on the C3 project at DaimlerChrysler. It was one of the earliest and most influential 'lightweight' methods.

Significance

XP introduced practices like test-driven development, pair programming, continuous integration, and frequent releases, directly challenging traditional heavyweight methods and proving the viability of iterative approaches.
