Brendan Eich Joins Netscape

Brendan Eich was hired by Netscape Communications with the explicit goal of embedding a scripting language into the Netscape Navigator browser, under an extremely tight deadline.

This marked the genesis of JavaScript, as Eich immediately began work on the language that would become its foundation.
