CODASYL Network Model Publication
The Conference on Data Systems Languages (CODASYL) published its first report proposing a network data model. This was an early attempt to represent data as records linked by pointers, preceding relational databases.
Significance
While not a 'graph database' in the modern sense, the CODASYL model introduced the concept of explicit data relationships and navigation, laying foundational ideas that would later be revisited by graph databases as an alternative to relational models.
