Development of ARC Assembler
Kathleen and Andrew Booth developed one of the earliest known 'assembler' programs for the Automatic Relay Calculator (ARC). This program allowed rudimentary symbolic codes to be translated into machine instructions.
Significance
Though very basic, it represented a crucial conceptual leap, demonstrating the fundamental principle of using symbols to simplify machine-level programming.
