Elasticsearch Initial Release

Shay Banon released the first version of Elasticsearch, an open-source, RESTful search engine built on Apache Lucene, initially under the Apache 2.0 license.

Significance

This laid the foundation for the technology that would eventually be forked to become OpenSearch. Its initial open-source nature fostered wide adoption.
