Electric Pencil Release

Michael Shrayer releases Electric Pencil, initially for the Altair 8800, later adapted for many CP/M machines. It offered on-screen editing and basic formatting.

Significance

This was one of the first widely available and successful word processors for microcomputers, proving their utility beyond hobbyist programming and kickstarting the application software market.
