First public release of Python (0.9.0)

Python version 0.9.0 was posted to the alt.sources Usenet newsgroup, making it available to a wider audience. It already included classes with inheritance, exception handling, and core data types.

Significance

This marked Python's entry into the public domain, allowing early adopters and community members to begin experimenting with and contributing to the language.
