Green Project Formation

James Gosling, Mike Sheridan, and Patrick Naughton initiated the Green Project with the aim of developing technology for intelligent consumer electronics.

Significance

This marked the clandestine beginning of what would eventually become Java, initially conceived for embedded systems rather than the internet.
