IBM MQSeries (MQI) Release

IBM officially released MQSeries, a commercial message queuing product providing asynchronous, reliable communication between diverse applications. It enabled applications to send messages to a queue, decoupling senders from receivers.

Significance

This marked the first widespread commercial adoption of a true message queuing and brokering system, legitimizing the architectural pattern and solving critical enterprise integration challenges. It became a de facto standard for many large organizations.
