Around 2013, a small team within AWS began internal development on a new compute service aimed at eliminating server management, driven by the desire for more efficient, event-driven internal systems.

Significance

This marked the conceptual and technical beginning of what would become Amazon Lambda, focusing on the core challenge of stateless, on-demand execution.
