Knative 0.1 Release

Google announced the initial open-source release of Knative, a set of components for building serverless applications on Kubernetes. It provided traffic routing, auto-scaling, and eventing capabilities.

Significance

This was the foundational technical breakthrough. Knative proved that serverless functionality could be layered atop Kubernetes, paving the way for managed 'serverless container' services like Cloud Run by abstracting away complex Kubernetes configurations.
