Mesos Research Begins at UC Berkeley

Benjamin Hindman begins work on what would become Apache Mesos as a PhD student at UC Berkeley, under the guidance of Professors Ion Stoica and Scott Shenker. Matei Zaharia also contributes significantly.

Significance

This marked the birth of the foundational technology (Mesos) upon which DC/OS would later be built, pioneering the concept of dynamic resource allocation in datacenters.
