MongoDB Inc. Founded

Dwight Merriman, Eliot Horowitz, and Kevin Ryan founded what would become MongoDB, Inc. (originally 10gen) to develop a new type of database for modern applications.

Significance

This laid the foundational technology that Atlas would eventually manage, creating the popular database whose operational challenges Atlas would solve.
