NeXT Inc. Founded

After being forced out of Apple, Steve Jobs founded NeXT Inc. with several former Apple employees, aiming to build powerful workstations for higher education and business, running the innovative NeXTSTEP operating system.

Significance

This was the birthplace of the core technology (NeXTSTEP) that would eventually become Mac OS X, laying the foundational Unix-based, object-oriented framework.
