NLS Demonstration (The Mother of All Demos)

Douglas Engelbart publicly demonstrated the oN-Line System (NLS), which included hypertext, collaborative editing, video conferencing, and a mouse-driven GUI. It was a pioneering example of an integrated working environment.

Significance

This landmark demonstration showcased a unified system that integrated many modern computing concepts, including interactive text editing and software tools, prefiguring the integrated experience of an IDE.
