OLE 1.0 Release

Microsoft introduces Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) 1.0, primarily for document-centric applications to link or embed content from other applications.

Significance

This was the first public step towards inter-application communication beyond DDE, laying groundwork for future object models, even if it was largely a copy-paste-with-updates mechanism.
