ParAccel Acquisition

Amazon Web Services acquired ParAccel, a parallel database company, whose columnar storage and massively parallel processing (MPP) technology would form the architectural core of Amazon Redshift.

Significance

This acquisition provided AWS with the foundational technology to build its cloud data warehouse, bypassing years of internal R&D and leveraging proven, high-performance database expertise.
