ParAccel was founded by Dr. Kimon Tsakalakis and Barry Morris, developing a high-performance, columnar, massively parallel processing (MPP) analytical database.

Significance

This laid the foundational technology that Amazon would later acquire and integrate to create Redshift, providing the core query engine capabilities.
