ParAccel, Inc. was founded, beginning the development of its high-performance, columnar, Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) database engine designed for analytical workloads.

Significance

This event created the core database technology that Amazon Web Services would later license and adapt to build Amazon Redshift, providing its fundamental architectural advantages.
