Sightly Initial Concept & Development

Adobe engineers, particularly those working on AEM (then CQ5), began developing a new templating language internally, driven by frustrations with JSP and a vision for more secure, HTML-centric templates. This project was initially codenamed 'Sightly'.

This marked the genesis of a fundamental shift in AEM's rendering architecture, laying the groundwork for a more modern and secure approach to web development within the platform.
