TopLink, an early commercial ORM for Java, was released. It offered sophisticated object-relational mapping capabilities for enterprise applications.
Significance
One of the first mature, widely adopted commercial ORMs, demonstrating the viability and need for such tools in the Java ecosystem. It was later acquired by Oracle.
