YARN's General Availability

Apache Hadoop 2.x, which included YARN as its core resource manager, reached General Availability. This provided the foundational architecture for Tez.

Significance

YARN's release was critical as it enabled the development of alternative processing frameworks like Tez, freeing them from MapReduce's monolithic constraints and allowing them to run efficiently on shared Hadoop clusters.
