Kannan Muthukkaruppan, Karthik Ranganathan, and Marcus Wong officially established Yugabyte Inc. with the mission to build an open-source, high-performance distributed SQL database.

Significance

This marked the formal beginning of the YugabyteDB project and the commitment to address the critical gap in the database market.
